Special Lecture: "The Misfortunes and Happiness of the Japanese People as Seen in Antique Books" [Saturday, June 21, 2025, 2:00 PM - 3:30 PM] Kyoto Sangyo Kaikan Hall, North Room (1)
The Tanabe Happiness Foundation, a public interest incorporated foundation, works to improve the happiness of the people of Kyoto. The Kyoto Happiness Award, which recognizes individuals and organizations working to create societies and communities where people can experience happiness, will be presented in 2024. Professor Isoda Michifumi, a Kyoto-based professor at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies, continues to interpret ancient books and documents from Japan and abroad, promoting the fascinating world of history and the importance of intellectual curiosity. This special lecture will explore the Japanese view of happiness alongside a historian.

国際日本文化研究センター教授 磯田道史氏 （第1回京都ハピネス賞受賞）
磯田道史氏 プロフィール
１９７０年、岡山市生まれ。慶応義塾大学、慶応義塾大学院卒。茨城大学助教授、静岡文化芸術大学教授を経て、現在、国際日本文化研究センター教授、総研大国際日本研究コース長。浜松市文化顧問。初著『武士の家計簿』で新潮ドキュメント賞を受賞し映画化。 『無私の日本人』の一編「穀田屋十三郎」も「殿、利息でござる！」として映画になっている。『近世大名家臣団の社会構造』で博士（史学）。東日本大震災後に『天災から日本史を読みなおす』を、コロナ禍中は『感染症の日本史』を書き、歴史を社会に活かす試みを続けている。NHK大河ドラマ「西郷どん」を監修し、京都市長役で出演。近著は『日本史を暴く』、『徳川家康 弱者の戦略』。NHKのBS歴史番組「英雄たちの選択」の司会でも知られる。近年は、岡山城の展示監修や、京都市と全日空のグループ会社が連携した二条城・祇園新橋メタバース・コンテンツの制作も行っている。
